Battered and Shattered
Hopeless and Homeless
Destroyed beyond repair
Or so I seemed to appear

Nothing left of me
Bit by bit, everything completely rid of me
I was empty and in great despair
In dire need of attention and care
But let all alone to wither away in fear

Burnt down to the ground
A building brought down, nothing bound
Me- a being void of meaning or value
You decided to give life and true value

How can you raise up a building in shambles
Or give meaning to something so crumbled
But that you did
Not just with bricks
But with Stones of Turquoise
Step by step, all the way up
Until I was equipped and beautifully furnished
With Diamonds
My gates of Sparking Jewels
Foundations of Sapphires
Walls of emerald
Doors of Topaz
Windows of rubies
Totally endowed with Precious stones

So the eye sore became a sight to behold
A joy to the soul
A wonder to all gazers
An outstanding colourful edifice amidst the numerous grey domiciles
Amazed at the lovely work you've done
There's this one statement that comes to mind
'Oh how well you have rebuilt this broken temple!'

Polaris is her unique stage name
Her real name is Esther Ufedo Egwuje
She hails from kogi state
And presently studying biological science in the prestigious Benue state university
She fell in love with poetry a long time ago when she found out where her true gifts and passion lay
