●Alekwu is not an assassin killing unfaithful wives and their complicit husbands.

●Literally, Alekwu means spirits.
The Alekwu k idoma is an integral part of
ancestor worship When a father dies, he is deified and joins the line of gods(Alekwu ogb' ogba).
●These ancestral
spirits protect the land against evil ensuring law, order and justice (inalegwu,)
●All Idomas are consecrated to the spirit(father) of their family, clan, community, founding father or Idu oma in such order.
●The Alekwu also punishes theft, murder, gossip, witchcraft, rape, blasphemy and disrespect for parents but in most cases they only force a confession while the community carry out the
punishment.
